Serious Considerations:

For Last Letter Go Here

07/29/10  In the world of my dreams, AZ Governor Jan Brewer would advise Judge Susan Bolton to simply take a hike; that the Arizona law, as passed by the Arizona legislature, and as signed by herself, the Governor of Arizona, was going into full effect as scheduled.  A showdown with Federal Judges is long overdue, and this particular immigration matter provides the perfect context for a state to push back hard to force this issue.  Federal judges, too busy for too long wreaking long established laws and the Constitution, just need to be told to buzz off.  This particular Judge apparently also needs to be alerted to the fact that the Federal government's number one Constitutional responsibility is to defend our shores and borders from foreign invasion; that the government's arguement that they don't have sufficent resources to do their job, in this regard, is simply unacceptable.  That a Federal Judge, and the Justice Department need instruction in this regard is enough to make this Observer puke.  Time to push back; Thomas Jefferson would be proud.  JES

07/28/10  Once again the GOP, this time within the State of Colorado, demonstrates its inability to think more than 10 feet and 12 hours ahead of itself.  Forget the implosion of Tancredo v. the Party.  Just as I predicted locally some weeks ago, GOP support for state legislation designed by the Left to apply for federal “Race to the Top” Monopoly (Obama) money, will backfire. The State GOP Elite, at the time, thought they saw a great chance to attack teacher unions, most, presumably, failing to recognize the Alinski game the Left was really playing, and continues to play.  Anybody with a political brain could see the Trojan horse set-up.

How could the state GOP think, at the time, that they could out-maneuver a state legislature and governorship under the control of the Left?  Assuming the GOP could reverse that this Fall?  Or, more likely, wishing they could get in on that Monopoly (Obama) money themselves?   (For really total political dunderheads, “Race to the Top” Monopoly (Obama) money, would translate into huge additional gains in federal control over our lives, the real purpose of it all, with Elite GOP motives regarding this point not to be taken for granted.)

Now, with the apparent likelihood of a new governorship in the hands of Colorado’s most famous barkeeper, and control of the state legislature far from clear, the state, and national, Alinski scenario does appear to have a better than even chance of unfolding as I predicted weeks ago. Again, even GOP victories are no assurance against the "money" temptations.

(For some insight from the Left, you might visit a current Denver Post take on the matter http://www.denverpost.com/ci_15618071 ; brazen as it is, I think it is essentially accurate with its implied implications.)  And don’t you GOP establishment types blame Tancredo; look at your own ethically unqualified governorship candidates, and accept some responsibility, for a change, for your own ongoing genetic and intellectual incompetence.  And some wonder why there is a Tea Party revolt in progress, however uneven and sometimes amateurish their own performance.  However, the Tea Party groups are essentially correct with their concerns and initiatives, and this Observer prays they will ultimately prevail.  The country cannot trust either ego driven Democrats or Republicans; what are we to do? Perhaps national sovereign bankruptcy really is in the cards, and the best we can hope for. Democracy can be messy.  God help America. JES

07/20/10  Memo to Lee Iacocca: Today the inmates are running the asylum.  You know it and I know it, and we are both outraged.  Where are today’s “leaders”?; hiding in the bushes, as modern “leaders” do.  This Fall, the country either goes down or sideways.  To go up will take decades, if it can ever happen.  Both of us will never see it. Your brother American; so few of us left.  JES

07/16/10  I have up to this point avoided commenting on the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.  The outlines of statism have immerged in the form of an international ”private” giant corporation, British Petroleum, in bed with sovereign national governments so as to run things according to the interests of a privileged few.  No free market capitalism in sight.  No moral authority other than the perceived self interests of secular elites, in and out of “governments” steering some huge agenda committee.  A headless horseman, so to speak.

British Petroleum is huge.  Like many multinational corporations, it functions at the pleasure of sovereign governments, NGOs and other international interests, way beyond the reach of ordinary stockholders, retail customers or main street American merchants.  For several years now, top BP management has been spending millions on public relations and political bribes to recast the company as GREEN, while shortchanging their own in-house budgets on necessary engineering, equipment maintenance and safety issues.  Safely indulged with regulatory waivers by adoring governments imagining funding cornucopias for the advancement of the Environmentalist agenda, down at the wellheads matters tended to get sloppy.  Within the oil industry this has been a well known, ongoing scandal for years.  Those at the top were more self directed at appeasement of the global warming crowd, and attendant self congratulation, than running an oil business and a series of mishaps can be traced directly to this fact.  The blow-out in the Gulf was pre-ordained long before it happened.

The hypocrisy of it all reached an apogee when a deal was struck between the British government, hiding under the skirts of Scottish “sovereignty”, and Libya, to trade convicted Lockberie bomber terrorist Abdel Baset al-Megrahi for BP access to Libyan oil.  BP access to more oil trumped justice for the sake of promoting an environmentalist agenda to replace “big oil” with windmills.   This twisted logic somewhat analogous to the idea of taxing the death out of cigarettes to fund the elimination of cigarettes and also fund health programs.  So the next time you hear the Progressive-in-Chief Baraka Hussein Obama carry on about British Petroleum, witness hypocrisy at its finest.  All the chest thumping and public posturing in the world cannot hide the complicity. The details of the deals are publicly available for general consumption, if you actually care about the coastline.

Therein lays the real problem: those who will find comfort in condemning a non-existent “capitalism” as they applaud more expensive and totally incompetent government, are blind to the fascism unfolding before their eyes.  JES

07/16/10  As elections unfold across the nation both for this Fall and for 2012, individual Democrat strategies generally will be framed on abandonment of Obama.  The rats are running for the tall grass, doing everything they can to hide their “progressive” credentials, and this process will only continue to accelerate as economic conditions continue to disintegrate.  Republicans, generally, if they even understand the discussion, will not allow their Democrat opposites to get away with it.  But then, Republicans, generally, have for too long been comfortable at the nineteenth hole.  Perhaps the Tea Party folks may nudge matters to the right, however it remains to be seen whether ”independents” generally are serious about small government, or actually more serious about “not getting theirs”. Ultimately, American politics will be forced to bend to the facts of both national, including the United States, and international sovereign bankruptcy.  The United States today is bankrupt on a sovereign level, printing money and borrowing from generations yet unborn.  That’s a game that will eventually stumble into a stone wall. That’s when the real shake out will occur sometime looking forward.  Meanwhile, Obama is toast, a measure of American stupidity that he should ever have been elected in the first place.  JES
.

07/08/10  Replace Michael Steele with Sarah Palin?  That’s the first intelligent idea to come out of the GOP since 1984. That would really fire up the base, and most of what’s left of America.  Does the GOP want to get back into the good graces of the American People?  Do it.  JES
.

07/02/10  Those who anticipate either a GOP victory, or a Conservative victory this Fall, will come to be disappointed.  GOP political elites, with their words generally, are either guilty of duplicity in their claims of Conservative conversion or pedigree, fraudulent or clueless.  For 6 years of GOP control under Bush and Congress, virtually nothing happened though the right words were frequently mouthed.  Now, under Tea Party pressure, much of the same rhetoric spills forth credibility absent.  As for the Tea Party types, we actually have a political stew of Libertarians, disaffected Democrats, actually clueless “moderates”, confused east coast Republicans and a handful of actual Conservatives.  They are more or less united in what they are all against, however, I would suggest, short of glue in what they imagine unites them fundamentally given any opportunity to perform.  Such is the poison of intellectual and moral relativism that grips the nation by the throat.  The word “conservative” is tossed about much too loosely.  JES

07/01/10  In particular, I urge you to open letter 10 02 and read the final entry dated 06/30/10.  JES
